Grand Blanc Township needs more sidewalks, cycling paths

If Grand Blanc Township is really trying to be active transportation friendly they should write a strong Active Transportation Ordinance. Time and time again new development is allowed to go in without a thought to active transportation access. Representatives of our group have spoken with owners and developers including Kroger and ELGA Credit who agree a sidewalk or cycling path “would have been easy to do” if they’d been asked.

Other cities, villages and townships have ordinances requiring non-motorized infrastructure – perhaps even most – and they are towns that lack the space next to their primary roads that we have. Business leaders don’t mind it. If they do, let them go somewhere else. Cut back on some of the onerous tap in fees they don’t like and add this feel good property value increasing opportunity to give back to the community they are hoping to do business with. —
