Festival of Flags is back!

Event returning June 9-13 after 2020 hiatus

DAVISON — Like most events, the Davison Festival of Flags was cancelled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but it will return this year for a consecutive five-day run, June 9-13 at Lake Callis and around the community.

The festival will kick off with the Festival of Flags parade on June 9. Parade participants will line-up at 5 p.m. and the parade starts at 6 p.m.

The parade will begin on Fourth Street, proceeding to Main Street and ends at the intersection of Clark and Davison streets. An emcee will be announcing parade entrants at the corner of Second and Main streets.

The festival itself will take place at Lake Callis Recreation Complex, 1152 N. Gale Rd., starting the evening of June 9 and running through June 13.

Events will consist of a carnival rides, an entertainment tent with live music lots of food, and more.

Carnival rides will be open June 9-10 from 5-10 p.m. June 11 from 5-11 p.m., June 12 from 11 a.m.-11 p.m. and June 13 from noon-6 p.m.

There will be cold beer, wine and live music at the Lake Callis Grand Pavilion from 5-10 p.m. June 9-10; 5 p.m.-12 a.m. June 11; 12 p.m.- 12 a.m. June 12; and noon- 6p.m. on June 13.

On June 11 at dusk, there will be a fireworks display at Jack Abernathy Regional Park in Davison, adjacent to the carnival midway at Lake Callis.

There will be the Davison Chamber of Commerce’s Chamber Alive After Five at 5 p.m. June 10; the Davison Downtown Development Authority’s Car Show on June 11 from 6-8 p.m. on Main Street; the Young Warrior Beach Battle at Lake Callis on June 12 from 8-11 a.m. and a Cornhole Tournament June 13 at noon.

Market in the Park will be held June 12 from 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. and June 13 from noon-5 p.m. The deadline for reserving a 10-foot-by-10-foot space in June 7.

The market will be held near the Lake Callis Grand Pavilion. Due to COVID-19 and keeping in compliance with the 6-foot social distancing, spacing will be marked accordingly and running water and electricity will not be available. All vendors must be self-sustaining and operational.

Rain or Shine –the “Market in the Park” will be held. Vendors are responsible to bring their own tarps and rain covering.
