Driver shortages force the cancellation of some bus routes

DAVISON — The Davison Community School district was forced to cancel some bus routes Monday and Tuesday due to driver shortages.

Michelle Edwards, director of public information for Davison Community Schools, said the district is down 12 drivers currently, leading to the cancellation of some routes.

“Despite our best efforts, we have exhausted our resources; including borrowing drivers from neighboring schools who went virtual last week,” said Davison schools Superintendent Kevin Brown. “We will continue to do everything we can to try and keep kids in school. That is our main objective.

“We ask that our parents and students continue to be patient with us until this temporary staffing shortage is resolved.”

The district has 40 routes it runs daily to transport children to and from school.

Officials sent an email on Monday to parents indicating bus numbers 48, 62, 26, 44 and 51 would not be on their routes Tuesday.

Parents were asked to provide transportation for their children.

Information about Wednesday routes were not available at press time. — G.G.
