Legion thanks the Index

American Legion Post 267 in Davison wanted to thank you for your continuing support of our post, in the In Brief Sections, and especially in your TEE TIME coverage of our annual Golf Outing (Best-Ball Scramble). With so many courses holding big outings this time of year, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to garner players. With you coverage this year, we picked up at least two teams, and trust me, that’s a “biggy” here. All of the profits from this outing are used to continue our work helping returning veterans and those that have either medical or financial problems, as well as sending high school students to Boy’s and Girl’s State (students stay in Lansing for a week and are given roles as Governor, Attorney General, etc.) Thank you again.

Don Oesterman, on behalf of Commander Dan O’Neil,

American Legion Post 267, Davison

Supporting Matthew Smith for Davison School Board

As a member of the Board of Trustees of Mott Community College, I am well aware of the current issues affecting Michigan’s Public School Systems so I am writing to share my enthusiastic support for Matthew Smith for Davison School Board. I feel that Matthew has the energy and drive to tackle those issues and work toward the continuous improvements for our already award winning district.

Davison is so fortunate to have a candidate of his caliber and dedication. Matthew’s commitment to the Davison Public Schools goes far beyond the interests of other candidates; he cares deeply about the quality of education for all students, and he has advocated fairly and passionately for students, families, teachers, and administrators. As a former student he has insight into the school systems issues and is willing to step forward with solutions!

I have watched Matthew interact with the public and I found him to be listening more than he is talking, a rare trait these days. I acquired respect and admiration for his intelligence, and dedication to a good cause.

I am a resident of the city of Davison and also a parent of two graduates of the Davison School system (and a grandparent of Davison students) and as a parent/ grandparent, I applaud the fact that Matthew, as a former student, choose to get involved with our school system early in his career to offer new ideas and insight to move us toward the future. I personally recommend Matthew Smith for the Davison School Board.

Anne Figueroa, PHR, Board of Trustees,

Mott Community College
