RICHFIELD TWP. — A township employee is organizing a group of volunteers to work on renovating the playground at the baseball field behind the Richfield Township Hall.

Tracey Hook, an accountant with Richfield Township, said she is doing a Community Involvement Event on Oct. 28, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. to renovate the playground by the ball fields at Richfield Township’s offices, 5381 N. State Rd.

Hook said she was given a $2,000 grant by Foresters Financial to replace the rotting boards and paint the west wall of the concession stand.

In the spring, she said there will be a phase two to the project, redoing the mulch and other beautification.

Foresters Financial, an organization Hook said she belongs to, conducts member involvement events that focus on community and family.

Hook said she’s been searching for projects to qualify for one of the four grants a year Forester Financial offers, and was pleased when township officials mentioned the work needed on the playground.

“Between community members who want to help out, and the Foresters, we’ll get it done,” said Hook. “We need manpower. We’re getting boards from the lumber yard. The rotting boards will be pulled out and we need to drive spikes to hold the new boards in place.”

The Foresters will be providing water, pizza and pop for the event.
