DAVISON TWP. — Amanda Wills wanted to do something for those suffering for all types of cancer after her personal experience with the disease.

Wills said she lost her mom to cancer 10 years ago, her grandmother few months ago to non- Hodgkins Lymphoma and her husband’s grandmother to the same illness just a short time later.

“While both my mom and grandma where going through treatment, I would massage their feet and hands and sometimes give them a polish,” said Wills, who works at Affinity Day Spa, 1490 Cal Dr. “That is one thing that I can say that always put a smile on their faces. So I wanted to come up with something to help others going through a similar situation.”

On Oct. 21, Affinity Day Spa is hosting a Spa Day for any cancer patient currently going through treatment. This comes at no-cost.

“The only thing you have to do is either nominate yourself or someone else,” said Wills. “There are only 20 spots available.”

Will said she has a great support system at Affinity Day Spa. One employee is a woman who is a survivor of breast cancer herself. There are also others working there who have been affected one way or another by cancer.

“My grandma played a big role in my life,” said Wills. “In honor of my grandma and my mom and everyone else that cancer has affected, I decided to not just recognize breast cancer, but cancer has a whole. There are so many of us at Affinity that cancer has affected one way or another. That is why it is important to me that we can give that day of pampering.”
