Letters to the editor

Keep the City of Flags, stop blaming Trump

This is in reply to the letter to the editor on Sept. 6 "Davison should no longer be the City of Flags." This started out as a complaint about not flying the flags at half-staff for John McCain and ended up being the typical deranged rant about President Trump.

Maybe if Mr. Dunklee would read the back story about his hero McCain he'd find why some people think lowering the flag for him was not needed and would be an actual affront to the real Vietnam heroes. He was a confirmed enemy collaborator and was considered a disgrace by many of his fellow POW's. He was also a traitor to the POW and MIA families that had loved ones left behind in 1973 when he championed a law that kept information about these men sealed as classified documents.

Keep the Flag designation for Davison, and try to respect the office of President. But some people are so unhinged and irrational when it comes to President Trump that is an impossible task.

Frank Yell,

Thanks for support for comedy festival

I wanted to write this letter thanking everyone that came out to the Davison Comedy Festival fundraiser this past Saturday night at St. John's Parish Hall. It was a huge success! We sold out the show with 400 people in attendance.

Whether you bought a ticket, sponsored, donated, or helped with anything I needed to put this event on, your support was very much appreciated. Proceeds from this event were split 50/50 between the City of Davison and Davison Township's parks for updates needed and/or future projects. A total of $6,000 was raised from this event.

Mayor Tim Bishop and City Manager Andrea Schroeder along with township representatives Tim Elkins and Casey Reed were on hand prior to the show to accept two $3,000 checks. I hope everyone had a great time. I will put the event on again, look for details on Facebook in the coming weeks/months on who I'll bring to Davison to perform next year.

You can e-mail me at Callisss04@aol.com if you wish to be notified when lineup and details are announced, also. Or if you have a review or perspective of the show, I would love to hear your feedback. Thanks again Davison! This shows me for the second year in a row how supportive our community is. It also shows me how popular a comedy club would be in Davison!
