Photo by Dan Brovant DAVISON – The Davison softball team fell just short of a repeat Div. 1 district title after falling to Lapeer 7-2 in the district final Saturday at Davison. The Lady Cardinals won by forfeit against Flint in the semifinal and Lapeer beat Grand Blanc 7-3 in the other semi.

Lapeer grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first, but Davison added one in the fourth and one in the fifth to lead 2-1. The Lightning then got the bats swinging and drove in six runs in the sixth to take the win. Morgan Deckrow threw 5.2 innings, striking out one and surrendering 12 hits, seven runs and two walks. Paige Anderson gave up one hit over 1.1 innings.

Carlee Allard was 2-of-3 batting with an RBI and a run. Ann Minto was also 2-for-3. Mack Hackman and Deckrow added a hit each.

Lapeer travels to Saginaw Valley State University on Saturday where it will open regionals against Alpena. The winner plays either Swartz Creek or Bay City Western for the regional title.
