Renovations to start this month at Gates Elementary parking lot

DAVISON TWP. — Dropping off and picking up students should be a whole lot easier for parents of Gates Elementary students come next school year.

Construction on a new parking lot that will include a separate bus loop with begin June 23, with work expected to be completed by Aug. 10.

The Board of Education voted in April to pay $523,109 to DCC Construction, Inc. to complete the project, which includes total reconstruction of the south parking lot and the addition of a horse-shoe style driveway for improved traffic flow. The project also includes a newly constructed bus loop, which will keep cars and buses separated, and additional parking.

Funds from the voter approved Building and Site Sinking levy will be used to pay for the project.

Prior to board approval the project was reviewed by the Board’s Building, Grounds and Transportation Committee as well as the district’s architecture firm, Kingscott Associates.
