Davison softball sets aside Saginaw Heritage

Photo by Timothy Mucciante DAVISON – The Lady Cardinals moved past Saginaw Heritage with ease last Thursday, taking both ends of the doubleheader. Davison won the first game 21-2 and put the second game away after three innings with a 25-2 final.

Davison grabbed a 5-0 lead by the end of the second inning before getting the bats rolling in the third with Davison scoring 10 runs. The Cardinals then added one in the fourth and five in the fifth. Heritage scored once in the third and once in the fifth.

Ally Earns led the way offensively for Davison with four hits, including three singles and a triple. Davison racked up a total of 21 hits on the game. Ashley Kish, Maren Blanchard, Bella Telle, Ann Minto, Mack Hackman and Morgan Deckrow all made connections. Deckrow went the distance from the circle and allowed eight hits and two runs with four strikeouts.

Davison opened the nightcap with a massive inning, tallying 16 runs. The Cardinals added two in the second and five in the third to put the game away. Heritage’s only two runs came in the third.

Emily Meyer got the victory for Davison, striking out two while allowing four hits, two runs and a walk. Davison had 17 hits on the game, with Earns leading the way once again with four hits, including a double and three singles.

Jessica Trembley and Meyer both had homers. Blanchard, Minto, Mikayla Oryszsack and Meyer each added multiple hits.

Davison, 2-2, was at Holly on Wednesday following press deadlines and is at Bay City Central today.
