Middle school swimmers place at MISCA meet

HOLT — The Davison Middle School swim team, under the direction of Head Coach Jennifer Heyworth and assisted by Davison high school boys coach Marty Quertermous, competed at the Michigan Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association (MISCA) middle school state meet on January 27. Davison qualified in several events, including four relays and six individual events. The boys’ team competed and placed in the following events: 200 medley relay, seventh, new school record 2:01.79, Calvin Spiewak, Peyton Rich, Will Hartman, and Ryan Riopelle; 200 free relay, seventh, new school record 1:48.52, Calvin Spiewak, Peyton Rich, Will Hartman, and Ryan Riopelle; 200 free, fifth, 2:03.02, Will Hartman; 50 butterfly, 11th, new school record, 28.35, Will Hartman; 50 free, 13th, 26.31, Calvin Spiewak; 100 backstroke, 8th, new school record 1:03.78, Calvin Spiewak

Davison varsity pom team state champs

EAST LANSING — The Davison varsity pom competition team earned the title of Division II State Champs on Sunday, Feb. 4. Davison Middle School placed fourth in their division. Sixty eight teams, ranging from middle school to collegiate level, competed at MidAmerican Pompon’s State Pom Championship at MSU’s Breslin Center. To be eligible at the state level, both teams had to first qualify at a regional qualifying round, which they did on Sunday, Jan. 14 at Northville High.

The varsity team is led by Captains Adriana Wittke, Monica Bryan, Olivia Allen, and coach Colette Bryan. The middle school team is coached by Melissa Calus and Emily McKanna.
