Fire department responds to broken water line

DAVISON TWP. – The Davison- Richfield Area Fire Department responded to an emergency call at Meijer, 8089 Lapeer Rd., Sunday afternoon, only to learn a sprinkler water line had broken in the west foyer of the building.

Fire Chief Mike Wright said his department was called out in response to an alarm from the store late afternoon on Jan. 7. Wright said the call was in response to a reported signal showing a release of water from the store’s fire sprinkler system.

Upon arrival, he said his fire fighters learned a pipe in the sprinkler system had frozen and broken in the west foyer and water was pouring out.

It was the fourth sprinkler system break reported in the Davison-area in the past week. No one was injured in any of the incidents. — G.G.
