City engineer updates coming projects

DAVISON — City Engineer Leanne Panduren told the city council Nov. 27 design for the E. Clark Street resurfacing project is progressing.

Panduren, of ROWE Services in Flint, said draft plans will be reviewed with staff early in December.

The city has reached out to Davison schools to determine whether they will partner to address the portion of the road that is in the township and still in poor condition. The project will be bid in the first quarter, but construction will not start until school is out for the summer, said Panduren.

The city is also preparing to submit a 2018 Scrap Tire grant application, with the help of ROWE, to resurface Dayton Street from W. Clark Street, south to Cambridge Drive.

Panduren said the packet was submitted to the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality last week and announcements on funding are anticipated to be made public in February.

The city used a similar grant to resurface Cambridge Drive, in Collingwood Estates, two years ago. The grant provides federal funding for resurfacing projects which will utilize a type of asphalt derived from recycled scrap tires. — Gary Gould
