ILENE ROSE HOLLENBECK, 86, of Richfield Township, died Tuesday

October 31, 2017 at her residence.

Irene was born in Alpena, on July 14, 1931, the daughter of the late Guy and Sarah (Hawley) Gohl and has resided in the area since 1967. She was joined in marriage to Robert Lee Hollenbeck on July 7, 1951 in Alpena. She was a member of Davison Missionary Church, where she taught Sunday School and served as the Sunday School Secretary. She also was a former member of the Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts of America. Ilene also served as a Health Chairman and Homeroom Mother at Homedale Elementary School while raising her family.

She is the loving wife of Robert, dear mother of David W. (Barbara) Hollenbeck, William D. (Kathy) Hollenbeck, and grandmother to six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Also she leaves her siblings, Thomas (Gloria) Gohl, Eleanor Howay, Dora Frey, Betty (Oscar) Wirgau; brother-in-law, Marvin Hackel, and a host of other relatives.

She is preceded in death by daughters, Sharon L. Preston, Robyn G. Mitchell; and siblings, Jean Hackel, Gloria Landry, Delyn Wirgau, Robert Gohl and Grace Wysocki.

Funeral services were held Friday November 3, 2017 at Davison Missionary Church 1481 N. Gale Rd. Davison. Pastor Douglas Connelly officiated, with private burial in Flint Memorial Park.
