Police investigate alleged stranger danger

Davison Community Schools administrators assuaged fears after a stranger danger incident was reported at Hill Elementary School this week.

Parents received a letter Tuesday after a latchkey student told caregivers a man followed her into the bathroom and knocked on the door of the stall she was using.

“Upon further investigation, we have learned that the ‘stranger’ the student reported seeing in the hallway is in fact a district employee,” district officials said in a follow-up letter Wednesday. “Since the employee is not based at Hill Elementary, the student would not have recognized the staff member.”

An investigation performed by school officials and Davison Police Chief Don Harris revealed that the man did not enter the bathroom.

“It should be noted, however, that the student did exactly as instructed in the Stranger Danger presentation held earlier that day,” administrators wrote. — L.R.
