For those people looking for all-you-can-eat pizza, pop and cookies, plus an all-you-can laugh comic, be at the Davison Missionary Church on Oct. 18. The church’s annual Pizza, Pizza, Laugha, Laugha starts at 5:45 p.m.

The organizer of the event is Laura Johns. She is a secretary and youth sponsor at the church. Johns described what the event was all about, “It's a fun family-filled night with all you can eat pizza, pop, and cookies. And then we have a Christian comedian come in. This year, it is Bob Smiley. We've been doing it for 26 years. And he performs for about an hour and a half. Or an hour fifteen minutes, somewhere in there.”

Johns said that all age groups are welcome, but that the event is really geared to teens. When asked if younger kids could come, Johns replied, “It's certainly clean enough where they could come, they just might not get everything.”

The church has been holding this event for the last 25 years, this is the 26th year. The event was started by Pastor Mark Douras. Johns explains, “The first year that he held it, I think there was maybe like 10 teens in attendance. Just a small group, and then it's grown over the years. And we like to have around between 450 and 500 teens. That’s about what we had last year.”

Johns indicated the event is for outreach and entertainment. “It's mainly geared towards youth and just to give them a positive outlet, for something positive to do in the community. Kind of an outreach for other teens to invite their friends to an event that parents can trust that it'll be wholesome and not risky in any way.”

“Bob Smiley does it every other year,” Johns said. “And then the other years, we get different comedians to come in. Bob has been a wonderful supporter of this event. He even has his own outreach effort to reach teens for Christ.”

The church is located at 1481 N. Gale Road. The tickets cost $8 in advance or $10 at the door. Johns said that people who want to buy the advance tickets can call the church to reserve them, and then pay for them when they pick the tickets up at will call on the night of the event. The church phone number is 810- 653-2484. 18
