Davison will be competing in Region 11 at Oak Pointe Country Club in Brighton on Wednesday, hosted by Brighton. The top-three teams in each regional as well as the top-three individuals not on a qualifying team will punch their ticket to the state tournaments.

Division 1 schools will head to The Meadows at Grand Valley State University for their state tournament, while Division 2 is at Bedford Valley in Battle Creek, Division 3 at Forest Akers West at Michigan State University and Division 4 at Forest Akers East at MSU.

As of this week, Brighton is the second-ranked team in Division 1, according to the Michigan Interscholastic Golf Coaches Association. Other schools competing in next Wednesday’s regional are Grand Blanc, Grand Ledge, Hartland, Holt, Howell, Lapeer and Saginaw Heritage. Lapeer was also state-ranked this season, but has since lost top-10 status over the last month.

The Lady Cardinals will look to Isabel Mabry, Abbey Ross, Caylee Ries, Brooke Kalisz, Kennady Fox and Taylor Minto, among others, for a strong finish amongst the stiff competition. Davison competed against a few of the teams it will face in its regional tournament last Wednesday at the Saginaw Valley League championship at the Fortress in Frankenmuth.

Davison finished sixth among the 11-team field with a 401. Midland Dow took first with a 321, Flint Powers Catholic was second with a 359 and Lapeer third with a 376.

Mabry led the team with an 87 on the day. Ross followed with a 99, Ries shot a 102 and Minto carded a 113. Kalisz had a 118 and Fox had a 122 to round out Davison’s scores.

The Lady Cardinals took this week off to prepare for next week’s regional, where they hope to place within the top-three to extend their season.
