DAVISON TOWNSHIP – The Knights of Columbus 4090 will hold its annual snowmobile grass drag race on Saturday, Sept. 16, at the Knights of Columbus hall, 8428 Davison Road.

Registration is open from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and the race starts at noon.

For those wishing to enter a snowmobile in the race, the entry fee is $25 per race, which includes one driver and one pit crew member. The cost to spectators is $15 per car or $5 for each adult. Children 14-years-old and younger are free. Outside food, beverages and coolers are prohibited, but food and drinks will be sold at the event.

The proceeds from the event go to the many charities supported by the Knights of Columbus 4090.

According to event organizer Gary Lehr, the Knights contribute to the food banks of the three churches covered by their organization: St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Holy Rosary Catholic Church and St. Francis Catholic Church.

“This is going to be our fourth year, but it is not annual,” said Lehr. “We started a race in 2010 or 2011, we missed a couple of years because we had to do some work on the track, so this is our third year in a row, but the fourth time holding the event. A member from another Knights of Columbus council helped us with the first one, and then I took it over after that.”

While the drag race is going on outside the hall, inside a craft show and flea market will be held. Space is available for interested vendors at either the craft show or the flea market. Contact Dan Porter at 810-919-6291 for more information.
