Miss Davison pageant on June 29

DAVISON — The Miss Davison Scholarship Pageant will be held June 29, at 7 p.m. at the Davison High School Auditorium.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and there is a $5 admission charge at the door.

The pageant theme is “World Traveler”. Seven candidates will vie for the title of Miss Davison 2017. The young lady selected as Miss Davison will receive a $1,000 scholarship and the first and second runners up will be crowned Court Members and will each receive $500 scholarships. 2016 Miss Davison Autumn Zudel and Court members Erin Mulkey and Megan Vanderkuur will crown the new Miss Davison and Court.

Candidates are judged in a personal interview and two on-stage appearances. They are judged in the categories of personality, poise, communication skills, overall image, scholastic and community involvement and achievement, and pageant responsibility. The seven candidates will then answer a final question and the young lady with the highest combined score will become Miss Davison. The first and second runners up will become court members.

New to the Pageant this year is the Miss Davison Princess Program. This is a non-competitive program to promote confidence and develop community service and awareness, as well as providing each young girl, ages 5 to 10, the opportunity to be crowned a Miss Davison Princess on stage.

Entertainment will be provided by Academy de la Danse and former Miss Davison Court Member Brooklyn Hurley. The outgoing Court and the candidates will perform three dance numbers, which are not part of the judging. The pageant is believed to be one of the oldest of its type in the State of Michigan.
