DAVISON TWP. — Parks and Recreation Director Casey Reed recently presented the board with several options for mowing bids to hire contractors for the coming season.

The board voted on mowing bids for its various properties at its April 10 meeting and decided on the services of Clippendale’s and the Grass Guys to handle some nine properties owned by Davison Township.

Reed was given the task for obtaining bids on grass mowing for all parks and cemeteries owned and maintained by the township. She said the township was originally paying for mowing services at a set rate multiplied by 33 weeks.

The new rates will be applied as needed and will run from April to October.

Clerk Cindy Shields asked if the contracts were strictly for mowing and Reed confirmed they were.

“The Grass Guys have done good work for us in the past,” said Supervisor Karen Miller. The board agreed and vote to award several bids to the Grass Guys for 2017.

Grass Guys were approved to mow Veterans Memorial Court and the Municipal Park Center (the township offices) on Irish Road. They will mow both for $130 per mowing, as well as $120 for the Davison Airport and $265 for the Pine Grove Cemetery on Bristol Road. The Grass Guys were also contracted to mow the grounds of historic Kitchen School for $35.

Also approved was a contract for Clippendale’s lawn care for mowing the Dog Park at $100, $580 for the grounds of Lake Callis, $125 for the Black Creek Trail and $100 for the Robert Williams Nature Center.
