Keep little feet warm

FLINT — A local effort is underway to prevent hundreds of local children from facing a bitter, cold winter without a warm pair of boots to protect their feet.

From now until the end of January, Health Alliance Plan (HAP) is collecting new winter boots for children served by Carriage Town Ministries of Flint, City Rescue Michigan of Saginaw and Pathway Shelter of Port Huron.

New children’s winter boots may be dropped off until the end of January at sites throughout east/central Michigan. HAP has partnered with insurance agents who have agreed to collect boots at their offices throughout Genesee, Huron, Saginaw and St. Clair counties. Retailers have also stepped up to help by donating merchandise or cash. Meijer is the top contributor so far.

A list of drop-off locations, as well as retailers contributing to the cause, is available at www.hap.org/bootsforkids, or stop in HAP’s Flint office, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday, 1397 S. Linden Rd. – Suite C, Flint. Details: Anita Moliterno at 810-230-7404. — N.B.
