Chelios to stop at Jim Waldron’s

Spaghetti dinner

DAVISON — Davison VFW and Auxiliaries hosts an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner 4-7 p.m. Sept. 18 at the post, 9474 Lapeer Rd.

Cost is based on donations $6.50 for seniors, $7 for adults and $3 for children 4-12. Take-outs available. Attendees who bring a non-perishable item or items to the dinner for the food bank will have their name put in for a drawing of two, $25 drawings and free dinners.

National POW/MIA Recognition Day

DAVISON — On Sept. 18, Davison VFW and Auxiliaries will hold a candle light ceremony 7:30 p.m. in honor of all the prisoners of war and those that are missing in action.

Texas Hold 'Em

DAVISON — Davison VFW Post 4087 Ladies Auxiliary hosts a Texas Hold 'Em Sept. 11 at the Davison VFW Post, 9474 Lapeer Rd.

Doors open at 6 p.m. and the tournament starts at 7 p.m. Entry fee is $30 for $1,500 in poker chips. Advance registration can be done at the VFW Clubroom or by calling 810-658-9069.

All seven players of the final table will receive prize money with amount of pay out depending on the number of entries. If there are 110 entries, the top prize will be $500. The $30 entry fee also includes food, coffee, cold pop and water. Details: 810-658-9069. — N.B.

Auction will help support U.S. troops

DAVISON — A silent auction, will be held at 2 p.m. Oct. 24 at the VFW Post 4087, 9474 Lapeer Rd., Davison. The money raised will be used to continue sending care packages to U.S. soldiers serving overseas. There will also be live music, a bake sale and more.

Events at the VFW

DAVISON — The following events will take place in the clubroom of VFW Post 4087, 9474 Lapeer Rd., in Davison, unless otherwise stated.

Shuffleboard — Sept. 6, 13, 20 and 27. The cost is $3.50. Sign-up is 4-4:30 p.m. the games will start. If there are not enough people to play shuffleboard, Wii Bowling will be played instead.

Troop packages — Sept. 22 at 2 p.m.

Euchre — Aug. 29 and Sept. 26 at 2 p.m. The cost is $5.

Wii Bowling — Sept. 8, 15, 22 and 29. Cost is $3. Sign-up is 5:45 -6 p.m. the games will start. Call the clubroom at 810-658-9069 before 6 p.m. and let them know if you are running late. No sign-up after 6 p.m.

Outreach East events happening

DAVISON — The following events will include benefits for Outreach East:

Sept. 5 — The Annual Duck Races take place at Abernathy Regional Park at 1 p.m. sharp. Tickets are now available at Outreach East, The Davison State Bank and the Davison Chamber of Commerce office. Cost is $5 per duck. After the race, there will be a pot luck lunch. Please bring a large dish to pass.

Sept. 12 — Thunder For Hunger will be (re)run since it was rained out last time. Check the Outreach East website for information. Cost is $10 per rider, ending up at Maddens for a Rock Out Hunger Party/Thunder For Hunger. Everyone is invited (21 & older). There will be live bands, a silent auction, 50/50 drawings, door prizes and much more.

Farmers Market has salsa contest
