Ivan G. Coleman, 84 of Davison, passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2008 at Crestmont Health Care Facility, Fenton. Ivan was born in Breckenridge, MI on September 3, 1924, son of the late George and Hazel (McGill) Coleman. Ivan Coleman married Betty on July 17, 1948.
He proudly served his country with the US Army, receiving numerous medals including the Purple Heart. Ivan was a member of Davison United Methodist Church, the Gideon’s and the D.A.V., Chapter #122. He sang with the Flint Male Chorus for 42 years. Ivan was an avid golfer. He was employed at GM-Assembly, retiring on April 1, 1982.
Ivan is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty; sons, Michael Coleman of Battle Creek and Tim (Jill) Coleman of Gr. Blanc; grandchildren, Jennifer (Tom) Harris of Flint, William and Joshua Clark of Gr. Blanc; great-grandchild, Megan Marie Harris; sister, Wanda Shilling of Burton; many nieces and nephews; special friend, Freddie.
He was preceded in death by 7 brothers and 3 sisters.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Davison United Methodist Church.
A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Thursday, September 25 at Davison United Methodist Church, 207 E. 3rd St., Davison, Rev. P. Thomas Wachterhauser officiating. Burial, with Military Graveside Honors, will be in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery.
On Thursday, there will be visitation at the church for one hour prior to the service.
