Pumpkin Festival promises fall fun for all

The 17th annual Davison Pumpkin Festival Friday, Oct.13 -14, will be goulishly good fun for everyone, both young and old.

"It’s a great time for family and friends to enjoy themselves, all the while to support the Davison community," said Leigh Hilder, community development administrative assistant.

The ghoulishly fun Do Da Parade parade begins at 6:30 p.m. Friday evening.

Mark Gorbutt, parade organizer, is looking for entries for the parade. All participants must be in costume.

"It’s a good opportunity to expose businesses and organizations and a way to give something back to the community," he said.

Applications are available at The Ugly Mug, a 320 N. Main St. or call him at 701-2925. He will accept applicants up until 5:30 p.m. Friday the 13th. Parade line-up begins at 6 p.m.

Following the parade, is the Do Da Pageant at the activities tent until about 9 p.m.

Coordinator Marsha Kalakay is in need of businesses to sponsor costumed contestants. The grand prize winner will receive a full page ad in The Davison Index. Interested business owners may call 653-2106 or e-mail www. MKALAKAY@LCBT.com

Some reoccurring activities will include: a mechanical bull, rock climbing wall, inflatables, and an adrenaline rush obstacle course for all ages.

Pony rides and llama rides will put smiles on youngsters faces. The Michigan Pedal Pullers pedal tractors will be back, as well as the trackless train rides.

The Girl Scouts will sponsor a fun carnival with games and activities for youngsters. Area vendors will be selling crafts and baked goods throughout the day as well.

At 6 p.m. the day will end with a big bang with the pumpkin splat.
